About ME
Hi! I’m Lillian May Rothman (she/her), an educator, poet, and writer pursuing a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Literacy Studies
As a PhD student, I hope to research the role of collegiate and adolescent English and Creative Writing instruction in social-emotional learning, self-actualization, and civic engagement. I am especially interested in the application of student-centered discussions and how literature can facilitate meaningful conversations about complex sociopolitical issues.
Before beginning my studies in education, I studied English and Philosophy at Davidson College. Then I earned a Master's in Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing (Poetry) at the University of Colorado Boulder. After earning my MFA, I spent two years working at the University of Colorado Boulder as a full-time Instructor of English and Creative Writing.
